Empowering Girls: PlayOn Foundation’s She Leads Program on women’s Day
Date: March 8, 2026
Location: Entebbe, Uganda
At PlayOn Foundation Uganda, we believe football is more than a game. In fact, it is a transformative tool for unity and positive change. To honor International Women’s Day 2026
we hosted an exhibition match at Victorian High School in Entebbe. This event followed the global theme, “Give to Gain.” Ultimately, it showed the world what happens when young women have a platform to shine.

Building Skills Beyond the Pitch
The match was the final step of a week-long training program under our She Leads initiative. This program does more than teach football drills. Specifically, we focus on building leadership and confidence. Our goal is to help these young athletes take charge of their own futures. You can see more photos of our previous events in our Official Gallery.
Furthermore, the training sessions focused on the value of hard work and team spirit. These are essential life skills. As a result of teaching discipline on the pitch, we are helping girls navigate real-world challenges with courage and grace
Mentorship with Benjamin Ochan
Throughout the week, the girls learned the importance of equality and mentorship. A special highlight was a visit from our Ambassador, Benjamin Ochan. He joined the girls on the pitch to share his own story.
Moreover, Benjamin reminded the players that skill alone is not enough. He emphasized that a positive attitude and self-belief are the true keys to success. Consequently, his words inspired the girls to dream big, both in sports and in their daily lives.
Celebrating Growth and Success
Following the training, the final exhibition match was a chance for the athletes to show their progress. While the game was exciting, the real win was the boost in the girls’ confidence. Therefore, we were proud to award medals and trophies to celebrate their hard work.
These awards represent more than just a victory on the field. Instead, they symbolize the resilience these girls have built through the She Leads journey. In addition, each participant showed incredible growth and a spirit that will carry them far.
Our Vision for the Future
As we conclude International Women’s Day, PlayOn Foundation remains dedicated to sports equality in Uganda. We believe that by investing in young women today, we are “giving” them the tools to “gain” a better future. In summary, our mission is to continue using football to drive positive social change for every girl.
