Benjamin Ochan Launches Girls’ Mentorship Football Program at Victorian High School Entebbe

Benjamin Ochan, former goalkeeper of the Uganda national football team (Uganda Cranes), has officially launched a girls’ mentorship football program at Victorian High School in Entebbe, Wakiso District, marking a major step toward empowering young girls in Uganda through sport.
The initiative, spearheaded by the PlayOn Foundation ambassador, aims to use football as a tool for mentorship, leadership development, and confidence-building among secondary school girls.
Empowering Girls Through Football in Entebbe
The girls’ mentorship football program combines structured football training sessions with life-skills mentorship workshops. Participants receive guidance in:
- Leadership and teamwork
- Goal setting and discipline
- Confidence development
- Academic motivation
- Personal growth and resilience
By integrating sport and mentorship, the program creates a safe and inspiring environment where girls can grow both on and off the pitch.
In Uganda, access to structured sports mentorship for girls remains limited. Through this initiative in Entebbe, PlayOn Foundation is actively contributing to youth development and gender equality in Wakiso District and beyond.
Benjamin Ochan’s Vision for the Next Generation

Speaking during the launch at Victorian High School, Ochan emphasized the long-term impact of empowering girls through sport:
“When you give a girl confidence and opportunity, you empower a generation.”
His vision extends beyond football performance. It focuses on shaping confident young leaders who can positively influence their families and communities across Uganda.

The launch of the girls’ mentorship football program reflects PlayOn Foundation’s broader mission: using sport as a catalyst for positive social change.
By investing in girls’ football in Entebbe, the foundation is:
